PROJECT BRIEF

Courteous Canine is a dog training facility in Tampa, Florida. Owner, professional dog trainer, and author, Angelica Steinker was advised to partner with a technical search engine optimization specialist due to the nature of her website structure. After years of working with various optimization teams, the site had become bloated with overly optimized, duplicate pages. The class registration process was confusing and difficult to manage. The website was impossible to maintain and update.

Through the use of a detailed technical SEO Audit, we were able to compile a full list of site pages and get a total understanding of the site. Examining the user flow of the website allowed us to restructure and simplify the process for would-be clients. Partnering with an in-house PHP programmer, we created a WordPress website that paired with a custom PHP ‘hub’ for the class registration process.

MANAGEABLE FAQs

During the prep process, the client established that she hated the way the FAQs looked and worked on her site. They were ugly and in the way – all over the place! We created a simple design that allowed for FAQs to be updated and edited in one area within the back-end, while the content can be displayed on multiple various category-based pages.

ORGANIZED PRICING

Inititally, the pricing was displayed througout the website, within each class description. This lead to a challenge when updating the website. Now, the pricing tables are built to be edited in one place, which will reflect in every instance on the site.

REDESIGNED FORMS

Wait list and agreements forms were all updated in design to reflect the new look of the website. An entire secondary section of all forms was removed for more streamlined usability.

SOURCED REVIEWS

The client was very happy to have so many genuine positive reviews. However, they were being housed on three various review pages. We broke down the reviews by subject matter then displayed them on the matching service pages. Each review is cited to its source providing more credibility for the site.

EMPOWERMENT

In early 2020, A Shade Above discovered that their former web person had purchased their domain (10 years ago!) and wanted thousands of dollars for ownership rights to it it, despite the business owner’s understanding that the former web person had purchased the domain on his behalf. Via an Audit we discovered the true value and we proceed with abandoning the previous domain in favor of a better branded domain. Within 6 months, we had surpassed the former domain’s stats on all fronts.

REACH

The new main business website receives close to 3k impressions in search a day and competes on the front page for many terms including, ‘window treatments,’ ‘blinds for sliding glass doors,’ ‘motorized blackout shades,’ ‘interior shutters for sliding glass doors,’ and many more (seriously, thousands more!)

GROWTH

The brand continues to expand, recently having opened a new store in early 2021, with another planned in South Florida in 2022. Multiple positions were created as the company continues to grow. A secondary website to support their warranty and installation team was created. The new service system can be accessed by all technicians and has led to happier customers and more correct order fulfillment.
